Laura Baker Louw’s journey with Sportron began at a young age. As she recalls, “My mom joined Sportron when I was in Grade 1. So, I basically grew up with Sportron in our house.” This early exposure to the brand had a profound impact on her life, and she notes that “there’s never been a day that I can remember that we haven’t had Sportron products in our house.” In fact, she attributes the fact that she and her siblings rarely got sick as children to the presence of Sportron products in their home.

As Laura grew older, it was only natural that she would join the Sportron business herself. “When I got to the age where I could legally join Sportron, I did,” she explains. “So basically, a legacy; it just happened naturally.” This decision marked the beginning of a successful career with the company, one that would bring her both personal and professional fulfilment.

One of the most significant moments in Laura’s business came when she decided to leave her teaching job and focus on Sportron full-time. This was about six years ago, after the birth of her second child. “I realised that I could work for myself, with my own working hours around the children’s schedules,” she says. “And slowly but surely, I’ve built my business since then.” This transition allowed her to achieve a better work-life balance and pursue her passion for the Sportron brand.

So, what drives Laura’s enthusiasm for her Sportron business? “The freedom of not working for a boss and determining my own working hours,” she replies. This autonomy has given her the flexibility to build a business that aligns with her values and goals.

When it comes to the products themselves, Laura is unequivocal in her praise. “I love our products!” she exclaims. “Our children’s products are definitely superior, and there’s nothing comparable on the market.” She notes that when someone asks about a product, she can confidently recommend it, knowing that they will get good results.

Laura attributes her success to a number of factors, but one habit stands out in particular: good service delivery. “Answering clients quickly, giving them product info, sending invoices, and sending out the courier as fast as possible” are all essential components of her business strategy. By providing excellent customer service, Laura has built a loyal client base and encouraged word-of-mouth referrals.

If Laura were to start her business from scratch, knowing no one in the industry, she would begin by using the products herself. “You absolutely ‘have to’ use the products yourself,” she emphasises. “A lot of my success is because I know the products very well. I know what is in them, and I know what they are used for.” This personal experience has allowed her to build trust with her customers and provide informed recommendations.
